McDonald’s – Sinopec will expand drive-thru netword in China

Submitted by Bill Belew on Friday, 19 January 2007No Comment

China's hunger and thirst for cars to drive and highways to drive on will soon have the golden arches of McDonald's at pit stops along the way.

McDonald's has teamed up with China Petroleum and Chemical Corp. and the two companies are planning to open 25-30 drive thrus in the next year to year and a half.

McDonald's opened its first outlet in China in 1990 and has expanded to 780 restaurants with 50,000 employees.

Soon, Ronald will make his contribution to China's most dangerous restaurants – eating while driving. Americans can't do it. Why does anybody think the Chinese, with much less experience, will be any better at it.

China Petroleum and Chemical Corp., also known as Sinopec, has more than 30,000 filling stations which gives Ronald and company an awful lot of choices for locations and a steady stream of hungry drivers….and money as well.

When was the last time you had a Big Mac?

Yes, we’ve talked about this during our class. My Professor thought it would be a great success for McDonald, well, in my opinion, not so good news for the Chinese. Maybe it is convenient, it is bad for your health, also, I really don’t want to see more accidents in the highway.

    Nina,
Not only is there the danger in driving there is the danger to the health of the Chinese when they start eating like Americans.

    Thanks for reading!
