Marriage by Mobile Phone

It's easy to get married in China. Head to the marriage registry office and wait all night.

Well, maybe it's not so easy after all.

However, it did get easier.

the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs (BMBCA) that marriage registries have opened its online service for booking registrations.

On August 8th, 8/8, a very very popular number in China, 3,000

couples got their marriage certificates, some of them waiting more than 17 hours by lining up the night before to get first dibs on the lucky day.

Online booking is a new alternative. Couples can ask for their desired time and date, then wait for an hour…and voila!  They are married.

And, if that isn't easy enough to tie the knot….marriage booking by text message via mobile phone is being considered.

And to think that some people laugh at the drive thru weddings possible in Reno and Las Vegas.

Even Britney Spears couldn't get married this quickly. Divorce? Yes.
