Mama Mia! in Beijing

Swedish Band ABBA first performed in front of a live audience some 20 years ago.

The band's top hits have been incorporated into a moving story – Mama Mia!

Yesterday, the stage performance opened in Beijing. Next up, Shanghai.

Beautiful songs, funny story lines and better than Las Vegas-style choreography…. not too mention the 30 million some people who have already seen the musical since it first premiered at the Prince Edward Theater in

London in 1999, make for a hit that transcends cultures…China included.

Mama Mia! was showing here in the Bay Area for a while.

Reading and writing about this makes me wonder why I didn't take the time to go see it.

Oh, I remember now…I am NOT an ABBA fan.
