Love Affair Between Zhang Yimou and Gong Li

Zhang Yimou is one of China's best directors and Gong Li is one of his favorite heroines.

A spoof on the web has them in love and some 66,000 people are watching.

A partner of Zhang Yimou says, "They are interesting. We really don't care about these web pranks, as long as they can entertain people."

Other Zhang Yimou films are getting free advertisement by the same method.

Other directors, Chen Kaige, for example, don't see the humor and apparently has sued one spoofer for violating intellectual property rights.

Does that mean somebody in China is starting to get it? Stealing, infringing, violating intellectual property hurts?!

"China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television announced new rules in August aimed at cooling the fad – "and protecting morality and intellectual property" – by authorizing only a select few websites to screen the short films."

And then after the screenings come out, spoofs can be made.

What do you think?
