Lottery Mania Among Chinese Students after One Hits the Jackpot
Chinese students are going bonkers in Nanjing after one of their own quit school after winning Y5 million ($683,000).
The second year student collected his winnings from the China Welfare Lottery and promptly left school.
Teachers don't know if he will come back or not.
Y5 million is good for living at the upper-middle class level in China for about 25 years.
The 20-year old will need to rethink his strategy when he is 45.
Students are swarming to lottery stands in hopes of winning.
"It is too distracting and unrealistic for a college student to base his
dreams on risky lotteries," said a professor at Nanjing Normal University.
Really?
Is it too distracting for workmen, housewives, retirees, too?
