Little Chinese Boy, Xu, Born w/o Eyes

Submitted by Bill Belew on Thursday, 14 June 2007No Comment

I thought I have seen everything. But, this little boy has NEVER seen anything.

He has no eyes, has never shed a tear, no eyebrows and a small pointed nose.

The illness is known as cryptophthalmia – he congenital absence of the eyes.

Eye-opening surgery (literally) is planned but there are no assurances

The picture brings tears to my eyes.

A professor of  Xiamen's ophthalmology center has learned that one of the little boy's eyes may not be fully-developed.

My guess is that there are a whole lot of western doctors who would like to take a stab at this. Hopefully, this post will help a bit in getting the word out.
