Jack Welch on “Is China for Everyone?”

Submitted by Bill Belew on Tuesday, 6 June 2006No Comment

Jack Welch gives his reasons why a company should go to China…

1. China has a vast market
2. China has low-cost manufacturing
3. China has increasingly strong technical talent.
4. Companies that ‘make it’ in China leap into another competitive league, leaving their
    competitors behing.

and why a company should not…

1. China is littered with companies that went to China…just to go to China.
2. The China-or-bust mantra was invoked on them in B-school.
3. Because everyone is going….

How about your company? Should it go to China? Why? Why not?

What do you think?

just like Mr.Welch said china is a country everyone is going to invest, find opportunities.actually many things,”made in china”,are in the favor of foreign companies.chinese workers just get a little pay.it’s foreign friends get the most part of money, but china has been blamed for that ,tha’s quite unfair.i learn that japan also used to have this prooblem, how can you deal it/

Japan was able to produce things more cheaply, but with hard work and attention detail Japan was able to eventually produce high quality that surpassed the US.

China may be the world’s factory now, but I am sure that in time China’s homegrown quality will surpass that of the US – in cars, surpass Japan in electronics…

China has the work force and the intelligence. They need to take the time and be persistent. In the end, China is likely to come out on top.
