Indian Book Publishers Make Headway in Chinese Market
The director of the National Book Trust (NBT) in India said that major Indian book publishing companies have made headway in selling books in the huge Chinese market.
So, what kinds of Indian books are the Chinese interested in reading? Books on:
1. Information Technology
2. Science and Technology
3. Management
4. Medicine
5. Yoga
6. Jewellery
7. Bollywood!
One publisher, Jaypee Brothers, a medical book publisher says cooperation on book publishing is up to 20 books from 15 last year. Is that a lot?
According to www.hindu.com another publisher found a similar response from the Chinese for management and professional books.
China is said to have 573 publishing houses which produced 6.4 billion books including more than 100,000 new titles last year.
The estimated value of this market is about $24.2 billion.
But who is going to do the translation from Hindu into Chinese?

I am an English short story writer. Is there a market for English short stories in China?
Are there publishers able to handle my stories or is there a translation a problem?
I assume that China is a vast new market and there may be an opportunity for people in China to improve their English reading skills through reading interesting short stories.
