Help! Tell me – what’s the Difference Between Americans, Japanese, Chinese and Russians?
I don’t know everything about everything…but I do know some things about some things.
I spent many years living in Asia. I’d like to share an insight here and ask for your feedback/contribution.
I remember a scene in a movie I watched when in Japan. A big American sports player walked into his new Japanese apartment. With shoes on he stepped up into the house and subsequently bonked his head on the overhead beam in the doorway leading into the living room.
Question: If an American hits his head on a low hanging door, what will he do?
Answer: Go to great pains to raise the beam to make the home more accomodating in the future.
Question: If a Japanese hits his head on a low hanging door, what will he do?
Answer: The Japanese person will learn/remember to duck each time they pass through the doorway.
Question: If a Chinese hits his head on the door, what will he do?
Answer: The Chinese will find another way to enter in the future.
Question: If a Russian hits his head on the door frame, what will he do?
Answer: He will continually bang his head on the door each time he passes through and blame the Russian government for not fixing it?
