Group-77, China Says – Show me the Money to Fight Global Warming

Submitted by admin on Monday, 10 December 2007No Comment

The Group-77 and China are seeking a review of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) financial mechanism.

Japan, the United States and the European Union are opposing the move.

UNFCCC says the world needs $40 billion to address global warming but int'l financing totals only $36 million.

"The G-77 is a loose coalition of developing nations, designed to promote its members' collective economic interests and create an enhanced joint negotiating capacity in the United Nations. There were 77 founding members of the organization, but has since expanded to 130 member countries."

In other words, there are 130 countries that want to dig into the resources of the other 60 or so.

Give us more money or the objectives of the UN convention cannot be met says the co-chair Pakistan.

How about we NOT meet the objectives?

How about we take the $36 million back and tell these 130 country reps to go home on their own dime?

How about we spend $40 billion on saving the world from disease instead of some fictitious global warming monster?
