Government Covers Up Teacher’s Murder?
Just when the popular media would have us believe that China was opening up, becoming more transparent.
Filination tells of a high school teacher that was found dead. The police ruled it a suicide and that was supposed to be that.
Her students, however, didn't think it was a suicide.
Instead of marching in the streets and standing up to tanks, the kids flooded the BBSes with their doubts only to have them removed by the Chinese government.
"We told you THAT was THAT!"
Does the Chinese government really have enough people to sit around and read BBSes and delete stuff they don't like? It seems so.
More details about the fiasco and links to videos and translations can be found at The social impact of the Chinese Netizens.
Free speech may not be accepted in the streets, but the Net is still an avenue for many Chinese. At least, at least until someone finds the delete button.
So, is China really as transparent as the popular media would have us believe?
My eyes have been opened.
