Getting Richer/Poorer in China
People are getting richer in China. Or maybe less poor. Or it might be that someone decided to move the line between the haves and the have nots.
Due to a low cost of living in China, the existing poverty threshold is $152/year. That’s adsense for mose people.

A new proposed raise in the threshold to Y1,300 ($186) will cause the number in poverty to double to about 80 million. Only 14 countries in the world have a population of greater than 80 million.
Until now, the number was 43 million, half in the boondocks, countryside. However, the poor get preferential treatment in healthcare and jobs. Their kids get free education.
The World Bank puts the number much higher – can you say 207 million?
China has money in the bank. The economy continues to grow in double digits. It’s time for that communist ideal to kick in, no?
What’s yours is mine and you are happy to share with me.
