French Avera Vs. U.S. Westinghouse in Nuclear Power Combat
The French Company Areva is standing toe-to-toe with U.S. Westinghouse to see which company will supply key technology to China for two 3rd-generation nuke power plants.
Westinghouse has the lead because of easy to operate technology and a better price. But, the final decision is up to the state council.
Avera concedes their technology is a bit complicated but has offered an all-around technology transfer.
China wants to build four nuke power units using the safer and more economical 3rd-generation technology.![]()
China wants to raise its dependence on nuke power from 1.6% to 4% by 2020.
France is around 80% more than 5 times the dependence of the U.S.
Seems like the French experience may be an advantage as well.
What do you think?
