Fertility Drugs vs. 1-Child Policy
Chinese couples have found a way to circumvent the one child policy in China…fertility drugs.
Though prescriptions are necessary…pharmacies will still sell the drugs indiscriminately.
Despite the fact that the children are born more prematurely and have a higher abnormality rate, couples still gamble and the result is Chinese are having more twins and triplets.
In one Nanjing hospital…90 sets of twins and triplets were born this year compared to just 20 last year.![]()
China says the country has 400 million (think the populations of United States + Japan) less because of its one child policy.
Critics, however, say that forced sterilizations, late-term abortions and even infanticide, make the policy not worth the human cost.
What do you think?
