General Motors Corp launched a new luxury Cadillac in China last week.

The car maker rolled out four models of the Cadillac Seville Luxury Sedan (SLS) in Shanghai.

The price tags range from 500,000 yuan ($63.5K) to 750,000 ($95.3K).cadillac sls.jpg

Am I missing something or is GM way off the mark here?

Isn’t China becoming more ‘Green’? Aren’t its citizens feeling the same crunch that all of us are?

In the first eight months of this year growth in luxury cars was 24.5 % over last year.  And GM expects the demand for these gas hogs to reach 300,000 cars by 2010.

Rolls Royce claims Chinea is its number 3 market for its $380,000 Phantom.rolls royce phantom.jpg

I guess its me that has to correct their thinking. The likes of GM and Rolls Royce are just satisfying the itch of the fat and happy in China.

What do you think?
