Expressway Chief Gets Death Sentence for Accepting Bribes

The former board chairman of the Northeast Expressway Co. Ltd was found guilty of:
1. taking bribes,
2. corruption,
3. embezzlement of public funds,
4. illegally seeking private interest on behalf of relatives,
5. possessing major assets for which he could not account
His penalty – death.
Altogether he stole Y50 million ($7 million.)
The crook is believed to be connected with the former head of the Bank of China who is hiding out in Canada.
China wants Canada to extradite the BOC crook who stole some Y1 billion.
Death for stealing?
Yup.
