Eight Times Previous Year Salary for Illegitimate Kids

Revelations of some 2,000 celebrities and officials having illegitimate children…a second child in violation of China's one-child policy have caused the Hunan provincial parliament to raise the fine for violators.

The new fine will be up to 8 times the previous year's salary.

If a couple has a second child they will be charged 6-8 times the salary they made one year earlier.

Well-off people can afford the penalties now and often ignore the one-child policy.

Between 2000-2005, at least 1968 officials ignored the policy.

Of that bunch:

1. 21 were national law makers

2. 24 political advisors

3. 112 entrepreneurs

4. 6 senior intellectuals

One was delegate to the National People's Congress who had four mistresses and four children.

Six times last year's salary makes for one expensive second kid.
