Death on My Mind
I just got back yesterday from my mother's memorial service. She was 80-years old when she passed on to glory last week.
Question: Why do they put fences around graveyards?
Answer: Because people are dying to get in.
Question: How many people are usually dead in graveyards?
Answer: All of them.
Question: Why can't Chinese afford to die?
Answer: Because they can't afford to die.
That last one is not supposed to be funny. Beijingers aren't laughing either.
In the 80s it cost a few hundred yuan to die. Now, it costs 10,000-20,000 yuan according to the Xinhua news agency.
In some areas in Beijing, the cost per square meter for a grave can be twice that of an apartment. That being the case, perhaps they should request to be buried in their apartment.
China has announced it will outlaw the trade of tomb futures and is stepping up regulations on the lucrative funeral industry.
Nobody likes to bicker over costs when the dead guy is laying nearby. And funeral directors know and take advantage of it.
Are you ready to go?

Grave in china is not the same as in western. The corpse is incinerate before buried, so this will not cost too much area per body
Funeral industry is really a big business in china…
