City Forbids Homework in All Schools
The 70 school districts in Shenzhen, China are no longer permitted to give homework.
Elementary school kids must be able to finish their work in school, and jr and high school kids are only permitted to bring home 20% of their school work.
The city has also directed teachers to design more study topics that will:
1. encourage young people to do research…at school of course
2. solve problems…but not think about them when they are at home
3. train their abilities to think logically…."If I don't get my school work done at school, then…it doesn't matter, they can't make me take it home."
Music, physical education, arts and social activities may NOT be reduced.
Oh…and school will start later….8:20am instead of 7:30am.
The reason: to guarantee students sufficient time for sleep.
And college kids everywhere were hoping their professors would follow suit.
So, who is going to be happier the kids or the teachers?
Hands down…it's teachers who will be the happier….no homework to grade.

Hmm… Wish my school district would consider this. Heh. Never gonna happen, but a girl can dream, right?
