Chollywood’s – Curse of the Golden Flower
The US has Hollywood. India has Bollywood. Why can’t China have Chollywood?
China is churning out big flicks and the fans are asking for more.
At the urging of fans and cinemas, Zhang Yimou agreed to a week earlier release of "Curse of the Golden Flowers."
Chow Yun-Fat, Gong Li, Jay Chou and Liu Ye star in this film.
Four other Chinese movies which had planned to screen in December are planning to release earlier or later to avoid competition.
What China needs is some of those huge Cinema 36s so that two movies or more can be watched and shown at the same time.
You can bet that the average Chinese person will stick around for a second flick if they can get away with it.
Chollywood…Chollywood…repeat after me…Chollywood…and, uh, spread the word.
China is making big bucks with Chollywood. All the while, Hollywood is wondering…can any of those stars speak English?
