Chinese “Bad Example” Chen Kaige Nominated For “Green Chinese” Award
Chinese bloggers are going bananas over the nomination of Chen Kaige for the "Green Chinese" annual award.
Apparently the director caused some serious damage to a pristine Shangri-la lakeside during the making of his picture "The Promise."
China’s State Environmental Protection Administration cut out an $11,250 fine from Chen’s $42 million budget because the moviemaker and crew destroyed some vegetation new Bigu Lake.![]()
The deputy director of the awards committee reasoned, "Sometimes a negative example can serve as a warning."
So, they nominate the guy for his stupidity?! Who’s being stupid here?
Smells to me like the Green Chinese people want to throw a some big names around to draw attention.
Some 200 of China’s 120 million Internet users, that’s about .00000016 of a percent, said that Chen’s negative example set off a debate that ended in a huge debate creating awareness….blah blah blah.
Yep, if one in 600,000 people think he should be on the ballot, sounds reasonable to me. Yeesh!
What do you think?
