China’s Space Sector’s Nine Major Goals
During the 11th Five-year plan, (2006-2010) China has nine tasks, wants to make three breakthroughs and has set two priorities.
The nine tasks –
1. enhancing product supply
2. launching major scientific and technological projects
3. promoting independent, national innovation
4. accelerating space technologies
5. expanding space applications
7. strengthening industrial management
8. training professionals
9. intensifying international exchange and cooperation.
The space program also wants to make breakthroughs in
1. astronauts' extravehicular activity (EVA) and rendezvous between spacecraft
2. construct space labs of a certain scale
3. follow-up on manned space flight.
Finally -
priority is given to:
1. developing high-resolution observation systems using satellites, aircraft, and stratosphere airships
2. developing corresponding ground facilities.
In a couple of weeks or so….the first lunar probe will be launched.
Do you think China should be spending money on space exploration?
