China’s Rich Give Away Money, Too – the top six philanthropists

The top 100 philanthropists in China gave away $1.8 billion over the last 5 years. None of it to me.

The top destinations:

1. education

2. social welfare

3. poverty reduction

Twenty seven people gave away more than 100 million yuan last year. That's almost double the 15 donors from the previous years.

The biggest giver – 86-year old Yu Pengnian, a hotel and real estate entrepreneur who most likely realizes all to well that he's not taking any of it with him. And that time is not so far away.

Last year the top 100 gave away $1.5 billion.

Still 34 of the top givers in China were NOT on the country's list of the 100 most wealthy.
