China’s Own Bullet Train to Debut at Year’s End

Submitted by Bill Belew on Tuesday, 25 September 2007No Comment

China's own self-designed, self-manufactured bullet train, capable of speeds up to 300 kph, will roll off the production line by the end of this year.

The train will carry 600 passengers and run for 115 km along the Beijing-Tianjin rail route…just ahead of the 2008 Beijing Olympic games.

China's fastest trains go up to 250 kph, on the Beijing-Harbin, Beijing-Shanghai and Beijing-Guangzhou rail routes.

A Eurostar train hit 300 kph on a journey from Paris to London last week.maglev.shanghai.jpg

France's national railways TGV bullet traines are the world's fastest at 320 kph.

China plans for the Shanghai-Hangzhou maglev train to run at 450 kph.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to the Maglev. We will be, uh, we have arrived at our destination."

What's the fastest you have traveled in a moving vehicle on the ground?
