China’s 2006 Trade Surplus Already Surpasses 2005 Total
China’s four biggest trade partners are the European Union, the United States, Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations
Those four groups are also the biggest contributor to another record trade surplus. In nine months, China’s trade surplus is already bigger than it was all of last year.
And the holidays are coming which historically cause the trade surplus to mushroom.
China is doing its best to increase imports – up 22% in September. But…but…exports were up 30.6% according to statistics realeased by the General Administration of Customs.
There is no easy fix to the trade surplus. Here are my ideas.
1. Countries could start producing things that China wants at prices China can afford.
2. Countries could try producing things at home cheaper than China can.
3. Countries could tap other couuntries besides China for manufacturing of goods…it would be cheaper and benefit the third country.
I admit that I am not very smart about these things…but if there is a trade imbalance…stop buying so much and sell more. It’s pretty easy.
What do you think?
