China Plans World’s Largest Solar Power Station
China is aiming for yet another world’s number one.
Dunhuang City in northwest China’s Gansu Province is planning the world’s largest solar power station.
The project will produce 100-mw and cost about 6.03 billion yuan ($765 million).
The project will take five years to complete and Zhonghao New Energy Investment will pony up the money.
Dunhuang is called an oasis town and has 3,362 hours of sunshine every year..that’s more than 9 hours a day!
When completed, the facility will surpass the current number one 5-mw solar power station in Leipzig, Germany and its 33,500 solar panels.
But, I think we have that many hours of sunshine here in northern California, too. Why doesn’t California do something like that?
What do you think?
