China Plans 10 Outsourcing Service Base Cities

10 by 2010. That's the goal China has set for outsourcing base cities.
The Commerce Ministry wants 100 multinationals to shift offshore services to China.

Additionally, China wants to foster 1000 large and medium-sized outsourcing enterprises.

The first five cities –

1. Shanghai

2. Dalian

3. Xi'an

4. Shenzhen

5. Chengdu

The estimated trade volume this year is 1.7 trillion U.S. dollars. China wants to multiply that by 4 before 2010.

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development says China is the favorite.

I don't think, however, that India is just going to sit by and let China take over.

Besides, setting goals and achieving them are different animals.

What do you think?

What’s funny about this is that they didn’t include BJ. BJ is way ahead of all the other cities. Perhaps it’s so far ahead of the others that it’s not included.

Besides BJ, the first five are obvious choices. I would have picked Wuhan over Chengdu, but that’s almost like splitting hairs.
