China Launches “Yaogan V” Remote-sensing Satellite to Take Environmental Surveillance and Protection Earth Satellite Photos
China launched a remote-sensing satellite, “Yaogan V,” that will take earth satellite photos.The satellite was launched with a Long March-4B carrier rocket, the 114th of the Long March series of carrier rockets
The satellite will be used for data collection and transmission:
1. land resources surveys,
2. environmental surveillance and protection,
3. urban planning,
4. crop yield estimates,
5. disaster prevention and reduction
6. space science experiments.
“Yaogan IV,” was launched earlier this month. “Yaogan III” was launched in Nov., 2007.
The “Yaogan I” and “Yaogan II” satellites were launched in April 2006 and May 2007, respectively.
The satellite was developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. developed the satellite. Shanghai Academy of Space flight Technology designed the rocket.
