China Claims to be Major Contributor to World Food Security

That's China blowing its own horn.
China's agricultural minister says China is a major contributor to world food security because the Middle Kingdom feeds one-fourth of the global population.
That is, China feeds her own people.
Whoopdee doo!
Let's see, if Japan was content to feed just her own country. The United States fed only itself, then what?
Simply by thinking/saying "We are not causing anybody to care about feeding us" does not make a country a contributor, it makes that country a non-burden. A contributor is an active participant, no?
Are we to say, "Thanks, China. For taking care of yourself?"
