China and Russia Agree To Act on Iran
China and Russia have always enjoyed friendships with countries that are at odds with the US. For whatever, reason it gives each of these two countries leverage against the US in certain diplomatic and business situations.
China and Russia have done their best to support Iran or at least to not consider Security Council action against the country….until now.
It seems that China and Russia are on board now with Britain, France, Germany and the US to seek a Security Council resolution that would make suspension of uranium enrichment mandatory or face sanctions.
Iran has been offered incentives:
1. Access to light-water nuclear reactors
2. support for Tehran’s entry into the WTO
3. Lifting of a ban on selling aircraft and parts to Iran
4. Other economic measures
It is unusual to get all six of these countries on the same page, especially with everyone in oppostion to the US. But Iran is about to face off with all six countries.
The question is whether these six countries, security resolutions, sanctions and what not will make any difference.
What do you think?
