Car Horns Become Boom Boxes, Create Horn Blast Tone Industry
Shanghai is undergoing massive construction.
Noise is getting louder and louder. And until a short while ago, cars contributed to the excess decibels created by the 20+ million population.
Now car horns have been banned. Anyone laying on the horn can be fined 200 yuan. Even police cannot use their sirens except in emergencies.
Uh…when else would they use them?
Some drivers, however, are up to the challenge. Instead of a horn, they are replacing them with music. If you thought the cell phone ring tone was big
business, now about car horn music tones?
Some people have even put voices in place- ""Please mind the car, we are making a turn."
Police have yet to crack down on the new sounds. Probably because they can't stop cracking up…or
maybe the horn blast tone industry is lobbying to let them make a few million dollars first.
