Capitalism at is Ugliest
Capitalism is not always pretty. Okay, it is sometimes ugly.
In fact, there's an ugly contest going on in Shenzhen, China's first free economic zone experiment,.
Shenzhen sits across the river from Hong Kong.
Capitalism means marketing, right?
Marketing means doing something, anything to drum up interest, no?
Enter the ugly contest.
Just for registering, a person can get Y100 ($13.6).
And, the champion, chief ugly, will get Y10,000 = about one year's annual income for a migrant worker.
Some say it's a marketing trick while others say the organizers are just capitalizing on the pain of others.
Yup, that would be capitalism at its best, wouldn't it?
I think, I might need to go to Shenzhen. I could maybe win this thing.
