Bio-fuel Farms Planned for Southern China
China has plans for a 40,000 hectare (99,000 acres) bio-fuel farm in the southwest of China.
The State Forestry Administration says the farms will eventually be able to provide 60,000 tons of diesel fuel per year.
The director says this farm is a key step for China to explore biological resources that will help reduce the country's heavy reliance on coal and other fossil fuels.![]()
China has made the development of renewable energies: wind power, solar energy and biological fuels, an important facet of its 11th five year (2006-2010) plan.
This farm is one part of that plan.
