Beijing Posts Record Vehicle Registrations

We are only three weeks into the new year and Beijing has already posted a record number of vehicle registrations – 22,079…and a record 2,400 on the busiest day.

Almost two-thirds of the registrants are non-Beijingers who use temporary residence permits.

Beijing already has 2.88 million vehicles registered – 71.8% privately.

Beijing will have 3 million vehicles by May and 3.3 million by the 2008 Olympics – good news for the auto companies.traffic.jpg

Just ten years ago, Beijing had only 1 million cars… 6 years later, 2 million, 3 years later 3 million….

As for me…I'd rather have my bicycle.

How about you?

    bicycle?

Do protect yourself! In China, cars are more important than people, not mention the bicycles. Good luck!
