Beijing Game Taxi Drivers Must Pass English Test

More than 6,200 volunteer drivers for the the Beijing 2008 games were chosen from eight governmental departments including the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.

The volunteers were asked to study on weekends and practice driving at four training bases.

From next weekend until the end of January, the group will be tested by English majors from the Beijing Foreign Studies University.china-taxi.jpg

The results of the tests will help determine a training plan to get the group up to speed in time for the Games.

I wonder, however, will they understand, "Can you step on it? My coach is really going to chew me out, if don't make it to the prelims on time."

Or…what about when they pick up French athletes and they refuse to speak English to them?

what do you think?
