Beer Bottles and Hosepipes = Low Tech Solar Heating

Somebody is spending way too much money on solar heating technology.
A Chinese farmer has come up with his own solution - 66 beer bottles attached to a board connected such that water flows through them.
Sunlight heats the water as it passes slowly through the bottles and then flows into the bathroom as hot water.
Result - All three members of his family have a shower every day.
Second result - more than 10 families in the village are following suit.
Conclusion - there's a lot of waste going into solar power cells, research and such, no?
The farmer said he invented the contraption so his mother could shower comfortably.
New Proverb - Mother created the necessity for invention.
