70% of Doctors have Sleep Disorders
Isn't that the basic story line in Grey's Anatomy…too tired but still have to operater, too tired but still try to not fall in love….![]()
However, in China, it's true. 69 of 100 doctors are suffering from sleep disorders.
2,700 doctors, aged 30-40 from 30 hospitals in 12 Chinese cities stayed awake long enough to respond to a survey.
Of course, their answers do lack a bit of credibility considering they may have been sleep deprived when filling it out.
Problems falling asleep, getting poor-quality sleep, waking up in the middle of the night, being awakened, sleeping too little…
Huge life pressures, anxiety and depression were other maladies the docs suffered from.
And we let those guys determine life and death matters for us?!
A doc friend of mine once told me that more than half of the people who die in hospitals die because of misdiagnosis…getting treated for the wrong thing.
Half! Last time I checked that meant failing a test.
Taking nothing away from the doctors who try hard….it seems to me they need some help.
Would you like to be a doctor and live a life of sleep deprivation?
