5 Character Traits of the Internet Addict
A survey of 641 young Internet addicts revealed that most of the addicts suffered some sort of psychological setback when they were young, in childhood.
Family influence was the single most important factor in determining if a young person was susceptible to Internet addiction.
1. Nearly half (46%) of the addicts said they had unhappy childhoods or faced some serious calamity.
2. Almost all (94.5%) were angry with their parents.
3. Just over half (52.3%) said their was no warmth and understanding at home.
4. Four out of five were only children.
5. Children from affluent families were more egotistical and self-centered.
Internet addiction is considered as serious as alcohol, cigarette or drug addiction.
The most important step to lead addicts back to a healthy lifestyle – a healthy and learning home life.
