Two out of five Chinese will be living in cities that are prone to floods by 2020.

"By 2020, the cities in the middle and lower reaches of China's major rivers will accommodate 600 million people," says the Minister of Water Resources.

When not under water those same regions will produce two-thirds of the country's GDP ($3.5 trillion).

Flood control is the name of the game.

China can lose as much a 2% of its GDP due to floods.

180 million people, about the population of Japan and Korea combined, have been affected just this year. 1200 people were killed, 70% of them because of flash floods or mud slides.

What China should NOT do is send a delegation to New Orleans, eh?

How would you feel about living in a flood-prone area?
