17,500 text messages every second – 24/7
480 million users registered to use a mobile phone in the 1st quarter of this year in China. And 120 million of them were named Wang, Li or Zhang.
"Hey, is this Wang?"
"Yup!"
"Why aren't you here?"
"Where?"
"Here."
"Who are you?"
"Uh, sorry I think I have the wrong number…."
"!@#%$ You do have the Wang number!!!"
"Dropped Call!!"
480 million, that's more than the United States, Japan and Korea combined.
During the first quarter Chinese mobile phone users sent 135.8 billion text messages. If I got my math right that's about 17,500 text messages every second around the clock.
That little girl who won $25K in the text message writing competition cannot even keep up with that speed.
Of every 100 Chinese people, 35 have cell phones will only 28 have fixed-line phones.
Introduced in 1987, it took 10 years for the number of mobile phone users in China to reach 10 million. Four years later, China had the most users in the world.
And they are talking VERY LOUDLY at the same time on the bus!
Do you have a cell phone AND a fixed-line phone?
