Full time job: $125 for 2000 Dead Flies
A fly in the ointment?
There's a bounty on dead flies in a Chinese city….1,000 yuan ($125) for about 2000 of them.
The scheme is aimed at encouraging cleanliness in residential areas.
The city of Luoyang (1.55 million) wants to earn the title of "state-level hygienic city."
It might rather become a city after Mao's heart…though 50+ years too late.![]()
Mao launched the "Four Pests" campaign during the Great Leap Forward.
Citizens were asked to kill flies, mosquitoes, rats and sparrows.
One technique employed was to bang pots and pans to scare the sparrows into flight…and keep them flying until exhausted and then "Whap!"
Let's see, I killed one fly every minute….at seven cents a fly…I could make about $4.20 an hour. Hmm….
Maybe it would be better if the city concentrated on cleaning up the place so that the flies would NOT want to live there. No?
