Black Panthers were originally the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense.

They were a Maoist/Marxist bunch who probably didn’t even realize it.

The group was founded in Oakland, California, by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale on October 15, 1966.

“The organization initially set forth a doctrine calling for the protection of African American neighborhoods from police brutality.”

The Black Panthers created a Ten-Point Program calling for:

Land

Bread

Housing

Education

Clothing

Justice

Peace

as well as exemption from military service for African-American men.

Yup, they want lots of benefits and to give up no service. What’s up with that?

The group’s political goals were even often overshadowed by their own militant tactics. Let me think about this again…they don’t want to be in the military but they want to employ some of the tactics of the military.

Can’t have it both ways, now can you?
