Richard Cooey – Bigger Than a Chinese Beach Volleyball Team – Executed
Richard Cooey, an Ohio death row inmate, was executed.
Cooey was 5′7″ tall and bigger than a Chinese Beach Volleyball team with one reserve….at 267 pounds. His lawyers (notice the ’s’) argued the morbidly obese inmate should have received a stay of execution.
The lawyers argued:
1. 23-hours of confinement a day
2. prison food
3. lack of opportunity for exercise
were the reasons he became so fat, and thus medically unfit for execution. Meaning he could eat himself to death but not be executed?
The lawyers also reasoned that the the medications the fat man was taking would weaken the three-drug cocktail he would be administered during the execution
Cooey took a 17-year old accomplice along to kill two University of Akron students by tossing concrete slabs onto I-77, landing on one of the student’s cars.
Maybe we should toss Cooey off a bridge onto a car with his lawyers in it.
In China…they just bring up the lethal injection van and all’s done in an afternoon. Sounds reasonable to me in cases like this.

This article was extremely insulting and disgusting. In one breath you say that Cooey committed a terrible act and in the next you agree with his death.
The murders he may or may have not committed (as the American justice system is absolutely horrendous) were a horrible act, but do you have to go down to his level by killing him? And how dare you judge him on the issues of the obesity. You don’t know the circumstances. If you’re going to report his death, report it. Don’t add you biggoted comments to it!
Bill Bellew obviously has a sick mind. Cooey shouldnt have been executed. No one should be executed.
