Pregnant Woman Pregnant Again

The New York Daily News has reported a very rare story of Julia Grovenburg, who is pregnant again after two and a half  weeks of being pregnant.

Julia along with her husband Todd Grovenburg went for a regular ultrasound checkup and there it was discovered that she now has two fetuses growing inside her womb.

The Couple resides in Fort Smith, Arkansas

This kind of a rare condition is reportedly known as superfetation, means to become pregnant again while already being pregnant.

The facts about this episode reported here are as follows

  • Julia Grovenburg is pregnant with two babies, but they are not twins
  • Babies were conceived two-and-a-half weeks apart
  • Generally only seen in animals, with around 10 reported cases in humans
  • The couple Plan to name the first child, a girl, Jillian
  • Second baby, a boy, will be named Hudson
  • Could be dangerous for the younger child, who is likely to be born premature, at the same time as the first
  • Older child expected in late 2009, younger in early 2010
