Heritage Foundation Report Shakes up Senate

Submitted by Bill Belew on Thursday, 25 May 2006No Comment

The Heritage Foundation reports "assuming the maximum, pulling out every stop for every loop hole, possiblity, and making every assumption – some unrealistic – about  how many family members will be brought in" that as many as 103 million people would try to enter the US in the next 20 years.

If the birth/death rate suddenly became equal, the US population would increase by more than 1/3 of its present population.

That’s a lot of people!

After some haggling and finger pointing…the figure was adjusted to 66 million…still more than 20% of the current population of almost 300,000,000.

What all this fuss means to PanAsianBiz readers is that the number of guest-worker visas issued annually has been CUT from 350.000 to 200,000.

I have written about how Microsoft, Stanford and others have already said they are hurting for quality students and workers. Now, it seems it will only get worse.

Where do most of the guest workers come from? India….China….Eastern Europe?

America is going to be hurting even more for quality overseas workers, aren’t they?

What do you think?
