Submitted by Bill Belew on Monday, 23 July 2007No Comment

Having Asia genes might help keep a person from becoming fat…but leave it to America to overcome even that obstacle.

A study published in the latest issue of journal Epidemiologic Reviews points out that U.S.-Asians are 4 times more likely to be obese than Asia nationals.

Wow! What opportnities there are in America, eh?

You can get fatter here AND do it faster.fat.americans.jpg

Americans are reaching the overweight/obese category at 2.67 times the rate they did in the 1960s.

By 2015, 75% of American adults will be overweight and two out of every five

that live long enough will be obese.

Minorities and low socioeconomic groups had the largest portion of fat and unfit.

Already, two in three Americans are overweight or obese.

How about you? Are the scales friendly to you?

I'll check as soon as I get back from the gym.

And doesn't epidemiologic imply epidemic?

Is there a growing epidemic going on here, too?
