Here are some things I know -

Steven Chu was born February 28, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Steven Chu is an American experimental physicist.

Steven Chu is known for his research in laser cooling and trapping of atoms.

Steven Chu won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997.

Steven Chu is researching  biological systems at the single molecule level.

Steven Chu is Professor of Physics and Molecular and Cellular Biology of University of California, Berkeley.

Steven Chu is the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

Steven Chu is pushing his scientists at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and industry to develop technologies to reverse climate change.

Steven Chu’s campaign is an “unprecedented research pact reached between UC Berkeley, oil industry giant BP, the Lawrence Berkeley Lab and the University of Illinois.”

Steven Chu got his PhD from UC Berkeley.

Steven Chu’s parents emigrated from China in 1943 to pursue studies at MIT.

Steven Chu comes from an underachieving family – his “younger brother, Morgan Chu, is the former Co-Managing Partner at Irell & Manella LLP.

His older brother Gilbert Chu is a professor and researcher of Biochemistry and Medicine at Stanford University.”
