China to Pass Germany as World’s Top Exporter in ‘08
Nikkei News (subscription) is saying that China will likely surpass Germany as the world’s largest exporter in 2008.
Total exports surged 17.2% to 1.42 trillion dollars.
I gotta admit, I thought China already was number one. Shows to go you what I know…don’t know.
The Middle Kingdom is also likely to replace Germany as the leader in trade surplus.
China’s trade surplus climbed to 295.46 billion dollars in ‘08.
Since joining the WTO, China’s exports grew rapidly. That was in December 2001.
China passed Japan to become the third-ranked exporter in 2004.
The Communist nation, ah hmm, overtook the U.S. to grab the No. 2 spot in 2007.
Now, it’s likely to be number one.
“We’re number one! We’re number one!”
