Obama has tapped Sam Nunn, a former Georgia senator and veteran Democratic defense adviser to chair his Pentagon Defense Transition Team.samnunn.jpg

Who is Sam Nunn?

Sam Nunn is 70-years old, born September 8, 1938.

He’s a lawyer and a politician.

He is currently co-chair and CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI).

NTI is an organization working to reduce the global threats from:

1. nuclear

2. biological

3. chemical

weapons.

Sam Nunn has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prise for his work to “strengthen global security by reducing the risk of use and preventing the spread of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons,”

Sam Nunn was a United States Senator from Georgia (1972 until 1997) as a member of the Democratic Party.

Sam Nunn is an Eagle scout.

Sam Nunn went to Georgia Tech and graduated from Emory University where he got his law degree.

He served on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard and in the reserves for six years.

Ain’t it good…to have someone on the defense team who is also being considered for promoting peace throughout the globe?
