Japan-China Find Cooperation Amid High Gas Prices

Adversity. It brings out the best in us. High gas prices are being felt the world over. And a result of those prices is Japan and China are working together (how often do we get to hear those words?) to explore for more natural gas in the East China sea.
Chinese hate Japanese and no why. […]

Hong Kong Mom Throws Baby Out, Keeps Bath Water

I have heard of not throwing the baby out with the bath water. But, what about the mom who threw the baby out without the bath water?

A 31-year old mom in Hong Kong was arrested on suspicion of infanticide for tossing her brand spanking new baby out the window of her apartment.
Passers-by found the […]

Balance of Nature in China

It is not always the foolish humans that drive animals out of their natural habitats.
Mother Nature (if you believe that sort of thing) can do it, too. I have a different take on the whole Mother Nature term that is beyond the scope of this post.
A May 12th earthquake in the mountains of Sichuan […]

Samsung and Bosch Chase Toyota, Honda and Nissan

Germany's Robert Bosch GmbH is the largest parts maker in the world and Samsung is, well, um, Samsung.
Bosch and Samsung have agreed to collaborate to develop the next-generation batteries for hybrid cars.
The arrangement is a 50-50 joint venture. The two giants will together spend some $500 million over the next five years. Their goal is […]

Green Tote Bags the New Fashion Rage in Beijing

Quick, what color does green go with?
Answer…everything.
Green with my Levis. Green with my Nikes. Green with my Diesel. Green with my Marc Jacobs. Green with my DKNY.
Green tote bags are the rage in Beijing. With plastic bags no longer being given away for free, shop-till-you-droppers are hauling around tote bags.
They take them to luxury malls, […]

Good News for Chinese Wanting to Visit the United States

Good news for Chinese wanting to visit the United States.
Last year, the U.S. embassy in China issued 400,000+ visas. That number was up 17% from the year before. Some 80% of people who applied were approved.
Last December China gave the United States approved destination status.
The flood gates have cracked open.
As things improve in China, […]

Extinct White Dolphin Spotted in China

Six years ago scientists in China all but concluded that the white dolphin, at home in the Yangtze river, was extinct.
Recently, however, a white dolphin cub was sighted in Anhui province.
Some 70-80cm in length and a long snout could be seen on this baiji.
Some say this species of dolphin lived some 20 million years […]

South Korean Truckers Want to Paralyze the Nation

This striking thing doesn't make sense to me on a lot of levels.
Spanish and French truckers went on strike, against high diesel prices.
They parked their trucks and let them burn fuel that they claim they can't afford to buy.
It made so little sense that South Korean truck drivers decided to do the same.

The truckers […]
